What's the game about?
UPTOWN SQUARES is an educational game designed to broaden the players knowledge of Black History, Black Trivia and the management of money, checking and investments. The game is designed to provide hours of family fun, entertainment and discussion.
Black History
The player learns about Black History.
When a player lands on an Uptown Squares Check Card, the player must correctly answer the Black History trivia question and the player will collect the money shown on the card.

The player learns about financial responsibility and money management.
When the player stops on an Uptown Squares BankCard, the player will either collect the amount of money on the BankCard or pay the required fees, taxes, or penalties.

The player learns the importance of entrepreneurship.
The player learns that as entrepreneurs owning stores, houses, churches and buildings in their community is the only way to “Build A Better Community With Our Own Money”.

Each game contains game board, 2 dice, 6 player tokens, 12 store stands, 6 people, 12 houses, 12 churches, 36 BankCards, 54 checks, 36 BlackStory cards and play money.
- Step 1Place the board flat on the table or floor. Place the Credit Cards, Checks, and BlackStory cards in the space provided.
- Step 2Each player receives $1, 105 distributed as follows: 1-$500, 4-$100, 2-$50, 3-$20, 3-$10, 3-$5. The remaining money goes into the UPTOWN SQUARES DEVELOPMENT FUND.
- Step 3Select a player to work as the UPTOWN SQUARES Manager. The Manager collects fines, taxes, and money owed to the UPTOWN SQUARES DEVELOPMENT FUND. The Manager pays commissions, honors checks, and credit cards when a player is to collect from the UPTOWN SQUARES DEVELOPMENT FUND.
How to play?
Players roll the dice and make their way around the game board buying stores, houses, churches, and buildings. As the players travel around the game board they answer trivia questions about Black History, learn little known Black History facts, collect money, pay out money for fines, taxes, poor money management practices, etc.
